Keeping similar themes the film delivers a plot that is quite moving at points and has plenty of thought for adults to ponder while the kids laugh at Buzz falling over. However this has not happened yet and it certainly did not happen with this sequel to their great Toy Story. The gang set out to rescue Woody but, with his value as a collector's item and his new friends around him, will Woody want to be rescued? Pixar are going to have a flop sooner or later either they will misfire or the usual mix of material will start to feel stale. When another toy is taken for a yard sale, Woody goes to rescue him only to find himself trapped at the sale and picked up by a collector who recognises the worth of the rare dolls. For Woody this comes when a ripped arm sees him left behind on the shelf awaiting repair while Andy goes off to summer camp. In every toy's life there comes a time where damage and fading interest will take its toll. It was also cut from the versions available digitally. The 2019 UHD release uses the "outtakes" version of the credits, but the clip of Prospector chatting with the Barbies in his box has been removed.

For the later TV airings, due to the split-screen credits, they show the outtakes and credits separately. The outtakes itself had also been included as a special feature on the 2000 DVD release, the 2005 DVD release, and the Blu-ray release. A reformatted version, with the outtakes at the top of the screen instead of on the side, had been used for the original 2000 VHS and DVD release. This version of the end credits was used for the 2010 DVD release, and the Blu-ray release. Approximately one month after the original theatrical release, the original version of the end credits were replaced with the "outtakes" version.
This version was used for the original 2000 DVD release, and the 2005 DVD release. In the original 1999 theatrical version, the end credits played over a black background, while the songs "Woody's Roundup" and "You've Got a Friend In Me" played out in full.
